Trans (-Asia?) Feminist-Queer Working Group

The Trans (-Asia) Feminist-Queer Working Group is a new interdisciplinary initiative led by graduate students, dedicated to advancing feminist and queer scholarship focused on often-overlooked trans-Asian contexts. Our goal is to center Asia within the broader study of gender and sexuality, foregrounding underrepresented narratives and theories from this unique intersection. While we emphasize trans-Asian perspectives, we also critically examine the term “Asia” itself through decolonial lenses, questioning how empire and war have shaped and constructed regional categories. As a working group, we invite scholars from all disciplines and communities who engage with gender, sexuality, and feminist/queer theoretical work to join us in this collaborative endeavor.
