East Asian Media History and Theory

This group focuses on reading new scholarship relating to East Asian film and media histories and theory (South Korea, China, and Japan). We will invite various scholars and filmmakers to speak on their scholarship and practices. The group will meet at least once a month via Zoom. 

Representative texts for or Fall 2023: Seunghoon Jeong’s Biopolitical Ethics in Global Cinema, Joseph Jeon’s Vicious Circuits: IMF Cinema, Kathe Geist’s Ozu, and others.
