Hittite
The Hittite Workshop is dedicated to the study of Hittite, the earliest attested Indo-European language, and the history of ancient Anatolia. This year, we will read and discuss historical, philological and/or archaeological scholarship about Anatolia, depending on the interests of participants. We will also continue to review Theo van den Hout’s The Elements of Hittite, which provides a sound introduction to the Hittite language. In spring 2025, we will continue with the study of Anatolian history as it relates to the Ancient Near East and the Classical world. This group will be of interest to anyone interested in the Ancient Near East, Classics, and historical linguistics, but it is open to all!
