Scriptorium

Scriptorium, a subdivision of the English Department’s Medieval Colloquium, is a graduate student-run working group which supports an interdisciplinary community of medieval scholars across multiple departments and disciplines (chiefly English; Medieval Studies; Ethnicity, Race, & Migration). Our events primarily take the form of workshops, either discussing and providing feedback for scholarly works in progress, or conducting information sessions on a variety of scholarly topics. In the past we have hosted a series of faculty-led events on academic publication, writing, and practices; this year, we will workshop a range of different forms, from academic monograph chapters to seminar papers, as well as hosting a number of in-house and invitational speaker and book events. Scriptorium is thus an invaluable resource for professionalization and community for graduate students and faculty in and affiliated with the English Department, and medieval literary studies more broadly.
