A message on Juneteenth from the WHC

June 19, 2020

On this Juneteenth, the Whitney Humanities Center celebrates Black Lives Matter.

As Director Gary Tomlinson passes the torch to Alice Kaplan, we are keenly aware that we are living in an extraordinary situation, where multiple tragedies are making room for a deepened sense of history and for urgent demands for change.

A priority in the coming months, as we wait for a post-COVID world, is to support our colleagues in the Humanities doing important work on race and social protest across the globe.

At the same time, action is imperative. What follows is a list of resources for getting involved.
