ELLMM City (Philosophy)

ELLMM City is the Yale philosophy department’s forum for presenting and discussing work across areas in “theoretical” philosophy, broadly construed. Our acronym stands for Epistemology, Language, Logic, Metaphysics and Mind, and we host external and internal speakers wishing to present works in progress throughout the academic year on those subjects and related areas like philosophy of mathematics and science. Where there is sufficient interest, we also run reading groups for faculty and students on recent work.

Our speaker events take the form of a 2 hour meeting, with 1 hour given to the speaker presentation and 1 hour for Q&A. Over the course of the year we aim to host a range of speakers from senior figures in their fields to junior academics and graduate students wanting feedback on work, normally hosting 3-6 speaker events per semester.

We warmly welcome anyone with interests in philosophy, including from adjacent fields in other disciplines.
