Third-World

This working group is interested in discussing theoretical and cultural productions from/about the Third-World and their contemporary developments in the Global South. We want to encourage an interdisciplinary conversation about texts from various regions and languages in order to gain a better understanding of the forms, ideas, and searches for liberation that arise out of the Third-World. Emphasis will be placed on expanding beyond the traditional canon of cultural theory, in order to learn from the voices that emerge in the cultures, languages, and communities across the globe. The group also aims to revisit the debates over the historical conditions, geographical scope, and political horizons encapsulated in terms like Third-World and Global South.

The group will meet every two weeks (in-person and online) to discuss readings that have been shared ahead of time. Our meetings consist of a short presentation followed by discussion. This working group is open to anyone interested in the Third-World.
