Dinny Risri Aletheiani is a faculty member at the Council on Southeast Asia Studies in the MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies and Director of Southeast Asia Language Studies at Yale University. Her publications and research are interdisciplinary, in the areas of curriculum studies, curriculum history, curriculum and environment, indigenous education, diaspora consciousness and curriculum, language studies, pedagogy, arts practices, free schools and alternative education, history of schooling, and education and policy in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia. She received her Ph.D. in curriculum studies from Arizona State University.
Her recent scholarly publications appear in Diaspora, Indigenous, and Minority Education, Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Education, The Curriculum Journal, as well as in two edited volumes: Itinerant Curriculum Theory and Decolonizing English Language Teaching Practices and Policies. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship, was the elected vice president of the American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies (2019–2022). She serves as a faculty advisor to the Yale Indonesia Forum (YIF). In addition, she has performed in theater and dance performances internationally. She has worked on community-based dance projects, including working with diverse and multigenerational diaspora communities, on the history and complexity of the Indonesian Archipelago.
