Hate in the Homeland: The New Far Right and the Rise of Antisemitism

In her book Hate in the Homeland: The New Global Far Right (2022), Cynthia Miller-Idriss shows how tomorrow’s far-right extremists are being recruited in surprising places, from college campuses and mixed martial arts gyms to clothing stores, online gaming chat rooms, and YouTube cooking channels. In this talk, Miller-Idriss will discuss essential tools for understanding the tactics and underlying ideas, including antisemitism, of modern far-right extremism, as well as innovative strategies we can use to combat extremist radicalization.

Cynthia Miller-Idriss is a professor in the School of Public Affairs and in the School of Education at the American University in Washington, DC, where she is also the founding director of the Polarization and Extremism Research and Innovation Lab (PERIL).
