"Celebration: From Food Ritual to Food Feast"

Jane Kramer is the longtime European correspondent of The New Yorker and writes the magazine’s “Letter from Europe.” She is the author of nine books, among them Europeans and The Politics of Memory–named two of the one hundred most important works of American journalism of the twentieth century–and, most recently, Lone Patriot.

She has received a National Book Award, a National Magazine Award, a Front Page Award, and an Emmy for documentary. With Europeans, she became the first woman, and the first American, to win the Prix Européen de l’Essai Charles Veillon, Europe’s most prestigious award for nonfiction, and for her writings on France, was made a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by the French president.

She has also written for the New York Review of Books,  the New York Times Book Review, the New York Times Magazine, Grand Street,  Vogue, and HG, as well as several European journals and newspapers. She divides her time between Europe and New York.
