Working Groups

The Whitney Humanities Center supports working groups that enable focused exchange among humanists about shared methodological, historical, interpretive, and critical questions. These working groups provide opportunities for scholars across Yale University to imagine and interrogate their work in the humanities with creative and disciplinary freedom.

Each year the Whitney sponsors working groups that gather faculty and graduate students for reading, discussion, and inquiry into shared intellectual interests—some groups are discipline-based; others are transdisciplinary. Learn more about the groups for 2022–2023.

In 2022, DH @ Yale—an interdisciplinary group supported by the Mellon Sawyer Seminar “The Order of Multitudes: Atlas, Encyclopedia, Museum”—joined the Whitney Humanities Center. DH @ Yale explores questions about digital humanities techniques and practices, situating these questions in the intellectual and theoretical dimensions of the humanities. Learn more about DH@Yale.
