Based on the true story of one woman’s fight for the equality, health, and survival of immigrant orphans, CABRINI tells the story of Francesca Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who arrives in New York City in 1889. She sets off on a daring mission to convince the xenophobic mayor, played by John Lithgow, to provide housing and healthcare for society’s most vulnerable. CABRINI shows how she managed to build an empire of compassionate institutions all run by women. Francesca Cabrini became the first American saint, canonized in 1946.
The Honorable Rosa DeLauro, representing Connecticut’s Third Congressional District, will introduce the film.
